Introduction

Objective of the Scheme

The Tourism Commission of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups are jointly organising the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme 2004. This scheme is one of the major projects under 'A Hospitable Hong Kong' Campaign. The aim of the Scheme is to encourage and train young people to be Ambassadors for Hong Kong, in order to:

increase their understanding of the rich culture of Hong Kong and widen their horizons
inculcate a sense of belonging among young people
provide them with an opportunity to contribute to our tourism development

Programme of the Scheme

Participants of the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme are required to attend a series of training programmes to improve their knowledge and understanding, not only about the role and function of being Hong Kong Young Ambassadors (HKYAs), but also about Hong Kong. They will take part in receiving tourists in Hong Kong and large-scale promotional campaigns and spread the message of hospitality to the community. For the HKYAs overseas, they will be responsible for organising promotional activities about Hong Kong.

How to Apply

The Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme 2004 is open for recruitment.

Eligibility

The Scheme is open for students aged 16 or over who are:
studying in local school or university OR about to study, or currently studying, abroad in high school or university
Applicants should complete the application form and send it along with
(1)	A 100-word essay on "My Role as a Hong Kong Young Ambassador"
(2)	A copy of community / voluntary service documents or references (if appropriate)
(3)	Proof of admission / student I.D. of overseas school, college and university (if appropriate) to

	Selection interviews will be conducted in July. Priority will be given to students nominated, or whose applications are endorsed, by their school principals Applicants will be informed of the result by email Organisers reserve the right for final decision on shortlisted applicants
Application deadline: 19 June 2004
	(Subject to the date of the postmark. Organisers will not be responsible for any postal delay.)
